How to Start Investing as a Foreign Investor

Step 1: Open a Securities Trading Account

Foreign investors must open a Vietnamese securities trading account before subscribing to open-ended funds. There are two ways to open an account, depending on your location and prior experience with Vietnamese brokerages:

Option 1: Visit Mirae Asset Branch in Person

Case A: You have never opened a securities account in Vietnam

• Prepare two notarized copies of your passport (issued within the past 6 months)
• Visit a Mirae Asset Securities Vietnam branch
• Your securities account will be activated within 2–3 working days
• You can then proceed to open a fund account
  
  

Case B: You have previously opened a securities account at another brokerage in Vietnam

• Request your official Securities Trading Code (STC) file from the original brokerage
• Ensure all personal information in the STC is up to date (name, passport number, residency, etc.)
• If your STC contains outdated information, you must update it at the original brokerage first and wait for the updated STC
• Once you receive the updated STC, submit it to Mirae Asset Securities to proceed with opening your new account
  
  

Option 2: Open Account Remotely (Without Visiting)

• All requirements and documents are the same as in Option 1
• You will work with a Mirae Asset representative who will guide you through the remote application
• You must provide your details and documents as requested (passport scans, personal info, etc.)
• Mirae Asset Securities will prepare the application package and send it to you for signing
• Once the signed original documents are returned to Mirae Asset, your account will be opened within 2–3 working days

Step 2: Subscribe to Funds

If you already have a securities account at Mirae Asset Securities, follow these three simple steps:

Step 1: Open Fund Account (One-time)

• Contact Mirae Asset consultant
• Fill out the Fund Account Opening Form (sent by email or in-person)
• Submit the form and receive account confirmation

Step 2: Subscription Order (Each investment)

• Fill out the Subscription Form (List Full Fund Forms Below)
• Transfer funds to the selected fund’s bank account
• Submit transfer confirmation and subscription form
• Receive official transaction confirmation from Mirae Asset

Step 3: Redemption Order (When withdrawing)

• Fill out the Redemption Form (List Full Fund Forms Below)
• Submit request to Mirae Asset
• Receive transaction confirmation and payment within 3–5 business days (depending on fund calendar)

Additional forms available upon request: Switching Order, Systematic Investment Plan (SIP), Change of Registration, Cancellation Form
